This immersive weekend offers a direct, experiential exploration of pranayama (yogic breathing). Through guided practice and clear explanation, we will clarify key yogic terms and concepts while connecting traditional yogic knowledge to contemporary anatomy and physiology. Short overview of topics: • Pranayama in the context of the eight-limb (ashtanga) yoga system • Preparing the body for seated yoga and pranayama practices • Detailed anatomy and physiology of breathing (theory and practice): what is moving, where, and why • A clear, practical understanding of yogic terms related to pranayama in relation to modern anatomy and physiology • Anatomy of the subtle body, with a study of the five kosha system • Pranayama practices as a gateway to higher yogic practices • How to approach and establish a personal pranayama practice This beginner-friendly immersion is designed to offer a clear and grounded understanding of the fundamental principles of pranayama, supported by direct experience. These principles form a strong foundation for developing a personal pranayama practice that is safe and sustainable. The course includes a comprehensive workbook for ongoing study. When & where 21–22 February (Saturday & Sunday – 10 hours in total) 9:30 am – 2:30 pm AEDT each day (includes a 1-hour break) Location The course will be held in a cozy private shala in Easey Street, Collingwood. Limited in-person spots are available. If you’re unable to attend in person, you’re welcome to join via Zoom. Can’t make it on those dates? No worries—the course will also be available as a Zoom recording. Cost 249 AUD (~150 EUR) This is an all-level workshop. Beginners and experienced yoga practitioners alike are warmly welcome.
